About Cassidy
Art
My artistic practice threads together my two strongest influences and appreciations - art and botany. I have used paint pens to create floral designs on the streets of London under the tag Wilted.Woman. These pieces range from one to three meters in height and width and are all finger painted. For smaller scale work I experiment with other materials in my sketchbook, using mostly alcohol ink and watercolors.
History of Art
As an art historian, I am inspired by the Counter Reformation and Baroque Florence as well as the global phenomenon of pilgrimage (though my interests far surpass these limited areas).
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Oregon in 2019, graduating with an honors distinction. There I wrote a thesis about the function of Herculean sculpture in Medici Florence and how it ultimately participated in the downfall of the Medici reign. This thesis is published in the University Archives and can be read here.
In 2022 I received my Master of Arts in the History of Art from the University of London, Birkbeck. I wrote my dissertation on the eroticism of saints in ecstasy and martyrdom as a form of affective piety. This can be read here.
Museum Experience
Working at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene, Oregon, I began my work in museum education. I developed numerous lesson plans to accompany our exhibitions, all adaptable to suit any age and ability. Several are available for purchase or custom commission.
I worked with Dulwich Picture Gallery in London in Visitor Experience, as a Learning Facilitator, and Assistant Administrator coordinating a symposium. In these positions I worked to enhance the museum experience through developing tours and facilitating studio and educational workshops.
Now, I work with Mingei International Museum in San Diego, California, in Visitor Experience.
